Alt News for Tuesday, September 7th.

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 by The Brain

In case you missed it this morning, Jim & Jen announced that KPP and The Drive are very stoked to present Alexisonfire with 4 Year Strong and Norma Jean at Stages…Advanced tickets are $30 on sale Saturday.  Click here to find out how to Beat the Box Office all this week.

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo addressed their controversial new album title “Hurley”. The band have had album title problems. The day Pinkerton came out in 1996, Weezer got sued by the Pinkerton Security Agency, and they took the albums off the shelves in its first week of release.”

Weezer fans have been angry ever since guitarist Brian Bell admitted that Hurley was named after the Hurley clothing company (which is making Weezer-inspired shirts and hoodies) and not the Lost character, as was widely assumed.
Here the stream of the album here

Duff McKagan, who was hired to fill in for original Janes Addiction bassist Eric Avery, has already jumped ship after only a few months.  Blabbermouth reports that the band sent an e-mail stating that they wanted to thank Duff for helping write songs for their new record, but musically they were headed in different directions. Duff is now off to work on his own solo stuff.

Need A Break from Sushi?

Thursday, August 19th, 2010 by Jim Elyot

After about five years of fish and veggies rolled up in rice, Kingston seems to be leaning a new direction for it’s food. Over the next few weeks we’ll see at least four new places open downtown that want to become known for their Poutine! Is this just an attempt to catch up to the average size of our neighbors to the south? Or a way of leveraging the nostalgia of the night’s that finished at Bubba’s when you were in school? Our friends at the Kingstonist provide a little more info and a cool online poll for you at http://www.kingstonist.com/2010/08/16/the-burger-poutine-wars/

Artist or alien?

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 by Ali MacLean

39 of these interesting statues appeared in the Humber River near Toronto Monday morning, people were perplexed, how did they get there? That is a lot of work to do overnight, it must have been a group of people who planned this out…nope, one dude today has come forward and said it was his handiwork. Now I’m not saying that he didn’t do it, but I also am not saying that it might have been aliens. Alright I am saying that it could have been aliens. How can one dude do all that in a few hours without anyone noticing? So I ask once again, artist or alien? Dan Aykroyd, get your Paranormal show on this.

Didn’t Alfred Hitchcock Do A Movie About This?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 by Jim Elyot

KOL get pooped on This is the video from a story that Jenn had on yesterday’s Morning Rush Alt news. The Kings of Leon were playing a festival in St. Louis Missouri, when a few songs in the local pigeon population got a little too over excited and started…well, pooping all over the band. It’s kinda gross at 1:12 in when the drummer wipes something off his face and you realize that it’s….yeah. Kings had a 20 song set-list planned but had to stop the show three songs in. Jenn’s alt news goes every day at 7:50 on the Morning Rush.
