Many thanks to a happy Drive listener named Elizabeth, who just got back from seeing this great show after winning tickets on The Drive.
“City and Colour was amazing and Dallas Green is so humble and was just sweetly honored that the crowd would come to see him. In his own words “I wasn’t planning on saying anything tonight and just play but Holy Shit.” lol There were goosebumps moments and I have the links from the show to just a couple of songs that blew us away like Save Your Scissors and The Girl. And to end the show, with great awe to the crowd, Gord Downie came from back stage to join in “Sleeping Sickness.”
Thank you, thank you, thank you for an amazing night and if there is a chance to request anything by City and Colour to be played, it would be greatly appreciated.
Every Friday morning, Andy from Nerds On Site gets on the Morning Rush to talk up cool new apps, gadgets and techy rumours. Best thing is, he tries to find the cheapest, or in most cases free stuff! On Friday’s show, he was pretty cranked up about a free new competitor for Skype!
Our good friend Taylor comes in to train us on the DRIVE every Monday and Thursday morning @ 6:50. He was a bit po’d this morning about the “weight training bulks you up” myth.
Months after going missing, we heard from our deer (sic) friend Wayne Leevey this morning! Turns out he was on a quest with his brother Gary. We’ll let Wayne describe it himself: Wayne!
Taylor Simon goes on the Morning Rush with Jenn and me every Monday and Thursday at 6:50. He’s been doing this for a long time, and knows his stuff. So if you want some free personal training, just listen in. Today he was dispelling the annual list of fitness myths. Check his blog at: tayloredtraining.ca
…Four replacement cohosts to go. This morning I had Noelle and Lee fill in for Jenn (who’s off for a couple of days). Noelle is a magician’s assistant from Gananoque, who is a huge fan of the Drive. She never needs an alarm, but with a 5am wake up, she asked her boyfriend to set his phone alarm just in case. That’s when she found out he has a “porno music” ring tone. Who knew? Lee of course is the bass player for the Drive house band Telefoto. We got to hear a bit about his “other” life as a public school teacher as well as the band’s upcoming cd release party. Find out more about that by clicking the band’s logo.
Tomorrow, two more fill-in hosts: Evan, a long-time rabid Drive fan and Ashley who says she’s the same.
Scott Sutton was the first winner on Jim and Matt’s Healthy Heart Snack contest. He won a sweet prize pack from the Heart and Stroke Foundation that includes a snow saucer, snow ball/snow brick maker, a fleece blanket and mittens, and a Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker. (more…)
We always welcome your feedback at 98.9 THE DRIVE – good or bad. Today we received an email from a listener that made us all smile. See below:
Today on my way to work I heard an announcer say “The Drive…not on your Grandma’s radio” WHAT?? 98.9 is the only station I listen to at home or on the road (Well OK…once in a while CBC). No Celine or Dixie Chicks or Michael Buble for me!! I am a grand mother 5 times and I LOVE listening to The Cure, Kurt Cobain, Death Cab for Cuties, NIN, Chemical Brothers…most anything you play I enjoy. (Well OK…once in a while I slap on a Pavarotti CD and I did get a little tired of Franz Ferdinand’s “Ulysses”, but I let you know in my “Test Drive”) I’m sure I’m not alone. There must be lots of babyboomers who are loving your station and your music. And lucky kids to have cool grannies and grampies like us.
