989 The Drive played some awesome Alice In Chains music to finish off the summer vacation with our Alice In Chains Winning Weekend. Congratulations to Chris Braund, Paul Dumbleton and Jody Krainyk who won pairs of tickets for the AIC show September 18th at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto (plus hotel). Jody was extra-happy that she could get some time away from her cat! Jody
The Drive presents Alexisonfire, December 12th at Stages. Jenn and I announced the show this morning at 7:10, then we mentioned that the Drive has Beat the Box Office tickets up for grabs. Here’s how that went: Jerry Sept 7
Andy, our Drive Nerd on Site watched the 90 minute Steve Jobs presentation from Wednesday’s Mac World about 20 times to squeeze the real important stuff out for us.
Jenn and I phoned up Chris St. Clair from the Weather Network to get, among other things, details on how the last long weekend of the summer was going to shape up. chris st clair
Jenn and I got to share a rare treat with our Drive listeners on Tuesday morning. Our Essential Adventure Party house band Telefoto dragged all their gear into our little studio and played their brand new release live!
The Drive is presenting the band’s CD release party on October 1st. Call us Wednesday morning @ 8:20 and we might be able to get you in free!
Many thanks to a happy Drive listener named Elizabeth, who just got back from seeing this great show after winning tickets on The Drive.
“City and Colour was amazing and Dallas Green is so humble and was just sweetly honored that the crowd would come to see him. In his own words “I wasn’t planning on saying anything tonight and just play but Holy Shit.” lol There were goosebumps moments and I have the links from the show to just a couple of songs that blew us away like Save Your Scissors and The Girl. And to end the show, with great awe to the crowd, Gord Downie came from back stage to join in “Sleeping Sickness.”
Thank you, thank you, thank you for an amazing night and if there is a chance to request anything by City and Colour to be played, it would be greatly appreciated.
Every Friday morning, Andy from Nerds On Site gets on the Morning Rush to talk up cool new apps, gadgets and techy rumours. Best thing is, he tries to find the cheapest, or in most cases free stuff! On Friday’s show, he was pretty cranked up about a free new competitor for Skype!
Our good friend Taylor comes in to train us on the DRIVE every Monday and Thursday morning @ 6:50. He was a bit po’d this morning about the “weight training bulks you up” myth.
