It’s been four years since My Chemical Romance released “Welcome To The Black Parade”, but a new album could be on the way. A vague MCR Official twitter post on Friday simply said “Stay tuned…” with a link to their website, check it out here there is a strange old-school monitor and a couple countdown, or count up clocks, a dial that you can turn that plays strange ominous sounds and different images. As I had reported in Alt News last month Gerard Way had said in an interview “We just finished the album so we’re excited about that. The second attempt at the album — we’re really happy with it.”
So, hopefully soon, a new MCR album to come! We’ll keep you posted.
Jenn and I got to share a rare treat with our Drive listeners on Tuesday morning. Our Essential Adventure Party house band Telefoto dragged all their gear into our little studio and played their brand new release live!
The Drive is presenting the band’s CD release party on October 1st. Call us Wednesday morning @ 8:20 and we might be able to get you in free!
My very good friend Steve Jordan (good Kingston Kid!) is the founder and guiding force behind the Polaris Prize. Heard of it? No? It’s an annual recognition of the best new indie music in Canada, and outside of the CBC 3 crowd, it doesn’t get the press it deserves. This year’s short list for the $20,000 award includes Tegan and Sara and Broken Social Scene. The Sadies made the final cut, and so did Owen Pallett. If you’re starting to ask “who?” Then you need to take a little iTrip to http://www.polarismusicprize.ca/2010shortlist/ . Click the links and listen to some of this great Canadian music. Then you need to start clicking on the groups’ websites and encouraging them to consider playing our city.
Hey that tactic worked to bring former Polaris finalist Metric to Kingston.
Jenn and I will get Steve on the show in the coming weeks. Meanwhile he’d be glad to hear from you at steve@polarismusicprize.ca
