Andy, our Drive Nerd on Site watched the 90 minute Steve Jobs presentation from Wednesday’s Mac World about 20 times to squeeze the real important stuff out for us.
Every Friday morning, Andy from Nerds On Site gets on the Morning Rush to talk up cool new apps, gadgets and techy rumours. Best thing is, he tries to find the cheapest, or in most cases free stuff! On Friday’s show, he was pretty cranked up about a free new competitor for Skype!
So, in case you haven’t heard: China has a congestion problem.
Now here is a very interesting way of solving it: Add more buses.
These buses are different though, they’re big – really big. So big, that they span two lanes of traffic, carry 1200-1400 passengers on the top floor, while traffic can drive underneath them. The picture says it all. For more images of these $73 million (CDN) buses click here. The little boy inside of me wants to go for a ride.
It’s been 11 months since my last post and the bosses here at the Drive have stopped harping me to write a new blog, so I decided to write you and give you some tech news!
Well it’s official! The geniuses at Apple have found a new toy that does all the same things our old ones do only better and more expensively!Today Steve Jobs announced the Launch of the iPad.A computer screen with a computer built in, or an itouch, but bigger! Don’t get me wrong I want one, but all of this hype over a glorified computer screen!?What’s next???The iAir? The iBall? The iEye? (actually that ones good, mark me down for a copy write on that one!)
Golf is great. And so are bras. So it just makes sense that they’d go great together, right? Well one Japanese designer thought so, so he created the Make the Putt Bra. It’s a bra that can be worn and then unfolded into a putting green so that you can work on your putts. Do you still need a holiday gift idea? I didn’t think so.
Everyone loves a cool gift. And the coolest thing right now, is “green” technology. People around the globe are more concerned than ever about the environment and being environmentally friendly has become very hip.
Big gas guzzling vehicles are yesterday’s thing. I overheard a couple of Queen’s students walking downtown just the other day bashing a local company because they drive a Hummer around. “How ignorant!”. The Smart Car or the Toyota Prius are the new sensational cars. Here at 98.9 THE DRIVE, we’ve got one of the smallest crossovers available, the Ford Escape, called a “Compact SUV” as our company vehicle. It’s just (barely) big enough that we can pack all of our equipment into, but small enough for great fuel ecomony. And we’ve discussed getting a hybrid when the lease is up. Very cool.
Have you heard this new social networking site that’s been called the next big thing? We have, and we’re curious. Twitter is a micro-blog. Unlike this page where we can have detailed posts with videos and more, Twitter is just one or two sentences at a time. Kinda cool. We signed up and now you can follow us if you so desire at http://twitter.com/989THEDRIVE.
So what do you think, is this the next big thing? Or a flash in the pan?
