Kings On TV, Weezer and FOB to Open for Blink, Wolfe Island Fest Info and Beasties Surprise Fans…
Kings Of Leon have announced that they will give their first live performance on MTV at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards later this month.
The Followills will share the bill with Eminem for his first live public performance since 2005.
The show is set to take place at Los Angeles’ Gibson Amphitheatre on May 31 and will be broadcast live on MTV.
Kings Of Leon are slated to perform ‘Use Somebody’ from their recent album ‘Only By The Night’.
The reunited Blink 182 is bringing Weezer and Fall Out Boy on the road this summer to open Blink’s first tour since 2005.
“We started talking about bands to tour with and Weezer was actually one of the first ones that came up,” Hoppus tells Rolling Stone. “They wanted to do the tour, and so did Fall Out Boy. It worked out perfectly.” But fans hoping to catch all three acts together on the tour, which begins July 24th, may be out of luck: Fall Out Boy are on board for two-thirds of the dates and Weezer will play the other third. Dates for the tour, and which bands are opening in which cites, haven’t been announced.
Blink-182 are also working to make this tour accessible to as many fans as possible. While the most expensive tickets will go for $60, Hoppus says the band has secured a $20 ticket fee (charges included) for the arenas. “We want this to be an experience that brings the show out to the audience,” Hoppus adds, noting the band has partnered with the set designer Kanye West and Daft Punk use for a light show that will incorporate the entire venue into the band’s performance.
Beastie Boys have given fans vinyl singles featuring new material as surprise gifts contained within their album box sets.
The rap trio have surprised some fans by stowing away a seven-inch release featuring new songs ‘Lee Majors Comes Again’ and ‘B Boys In The Cut’ in some editions of the collectors’ box set version of their 1992 album, ‘Check Your Head’.
Snippets of both the new songs are being streamed at music blog Mic-to-mic.blogspot.com.
‘Lee Majors Comes Again’ is a fast-paced, short rocky number, while ‘B Boys In The Cut’ features a capella rapping. It is unclear if they will appear on the band’s forthcoming new album, due later in 2009.
