Deftones bassist Chi Cheng died on Saturday at the age of 42, more than four years after a car accident left him in a semi-comatose state. Cheng’s mother directed fans and friends to the oneloveforchi.com website to share stories and thoughts. He was riding in a car driven by his sister that flipped three times after a collision with another vehicle on a road in Santa Clara, California. Cheng was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. He underwent surgery to remove part of his brain after the accident, and was strong enough to come off life support seven months later, he never recovered full consciousness.

Nearly four years after Nine Inch Nails played the final show, Trent Reznor returned to the stage with his new act How To Destroy Angels last Wednesday in Pomona, California. Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig Reznor is on lead vocalsbut he actually provided the first vocals of the night on the initial verse of opening number “The Wake-Up,” with the group playing behind a beaded curtain as video projections and changing light designs swirled behind and around them.

Previously unreleased live recordings by the White Stripes are headed to members of the Vault, the subscription series run by his label, Third Man Records. The set, titled Nine Miles From The White City, will be a double-disc vinyl from a show at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on July 2nd, 2003.
